A transparent model and toolkit guide are provided to explain how to establish a ‘fearless’ culture within the organization.

CREATING FEARLESS ORGANISATIONS
As a coach, how do you support teams and organisations to be fearless in a way that builds psychological safety? In a workplace, psychological safety is the belief that the environment is safe for interpersonal risk-taking. People feel able to speak up, with relevant ideas, questions, or concerns, without being shut down inappropriately. Psychological safety is present when colleagues trust and respect each other and feel able, even obligated, to be candid. In this current uncertain and quickly changing environment, teams are experiencing one another working together in different, virtual locations via online communication tools. Working this way, psychological safety can become more difficult yet critically more important. The Fearless Organization Scan is an effective way to measure the level of psychological safety in a team located in any environment, and provides a gateway to building (and in some cases, re-building) team effectiveness. As a coach, you can utilise The Fearless Organization Scan to measure and debrief results, working with teams to intentionally create positive impact on the levels of psychological safety in organisations.

About Kieran White
Kieran is CEO of PeopleTalking, partner for the Fearless Organization in Asia Pacific. His primary interest lies in how working with Psychological Safety ‘Fearless Teaming’ can support human connection and unlock the resources within teams, enabling total organizational systems to change more purposefully over time.
Kieran’s impact on organizations draws heavily on the integration of both halves of his working career to date. Until 2002 Kieran held various senior roles for multinationals in Europe and Asia Pacific. His tenure also included five years as a project manager helping to establish four shared service centres globally, which required a complete systems redesign and change management program across multiple cultures to support almost US$16 billion in annual revenue. As well as things were going at one level, it was also time for a change, some personal discovery and a new challenge in the form of returning to full-time study in the field of psychotherapy, specializing in groups and teams.
Since that move in 2003, Kieran has been designing and delivering human-centred programs to organizations, He brings a deep understanding of how individuals, teams and systems connect to every facet of his work and was a faculty member at the Jansen Newman Institute 2005-2011 where he taught group dynamics.
This led into Kieran working extensively with Psychological Safety and Structural Dynamics, a theory of how communication works or doesn’t work in human systems. Kieran continues to partner with David Kantor on the advanced study and practice of this theory and it’s timely relevance for leaders and organizations as they face into a world where dialogue and psychological safety are such critical scaffolds for releasing resources in organizations and harnessing collective intelligence. Kieran has a Masters in Applied Psychotherapy and is a Chartered Management Accountant (C.I.M.A. ret.)
